Local Cryotherapy

Local Cryotherapy has a lot of the same benefits as whole body cryotherapy (WBC) and can be used as a substitute in the cases of localized injury or inflamed sites.
Someone may choose a local cryotherapy treament over WBC if: they are cold sensitive, they want to give more attention to a serious injury site or they may save money by getting local treatments instead of WBC.

There have been many studies on the use of localized cryotherapy for the past few decades. One of the first studies on cryotherapy was on the use of cryotherapy to cure Rheumatoid Arthritis[1]. There was study done on patients who had ACL surgery and local cryotherapy treatments were found to be more effective than ice[2][3]. Another study with patients who had knee surgeries found that cryotherapy treatments improved recovery of the knee in every aspect measured[4].
